Emergency Dental Services Offered
We provide treatment for the following dental emergencies:
Toothache. In the case of a severe toothache that can not be managed with over the counter pain medication, immediate treatment may be necessary. The tooth will likely need a root canal or more advanced treatment.
Cracked tooth. A cracked tooth is at risk of infection if bacteria enters the tooth through the crack. Prompt treatment is recommended to preserve the tooth. In most cases, a cracked tooth will need a crown.
Fractured tooth. A chipped or broken tooth may need immediate treatment depending on the severity. Depending on the size and location of the fracture, such as if the fracture proceeds down the root of the tooth, tooth extraction may be required to alleviate pain and prevent infection.
Infected tooth. Signs of an infection include pain, swelling, bleeding, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, you may feel a “bump on the gums” called an abscess. Urgent treatment is required in order to prevent the spread of infection to the neck or to other structures located in the head. Depending on the cause of infection, treatment may include antibiotics, root canal, or extraction.
Displaced tooth. If a tooth is pushed out of place but is still in the socket, it will need to be put back in the proper place and splinted until the support structures heal around it.
Dislodged tooth. A knocked out tooth needs to be put back in place within 20 minutes for the best chance of saving the tooth. Put the tooth back in the socket if possible and bite down on some gauze. If not, place the tooth in milk or saliva until you get to the office.
Soft tissue injury. For an injury to the lip, tongue, gums, or anywhere else in the mouth, apply pressure to stop the bleeding and call our dental office. If bleeding becomes uncontrollable or the patient loses consciousness, call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.
We also offer emergency dental services for immediate care of dental emergencies.
